Colombia, a magical adventure.

Colombia, with no doubt, is one of the best touristic destinations in America. It is the entrance gate to South America and the only country in this part of the continent that has coasts in both, Atlantic and Pacific oceans. This feature makes its natural and landscape wealth to be unique, allowing Colombia to be one of the most diverse countries in the world.

Colombia has no risks, the only risks you will experience is having the desire to stay forever and falling in love with this lands.

In Colombia, we have a tropical weather along the 365 days of the year. We have no seasons, due to the location of the country, on the Equatorial Line, between Cancer and Capricorn tropics. There are no seasons, but there is a wide variety of climates, which makes Colombia a very attractive country for visitors. Between December and January, and from July to August, we experience dry weather. In addition, rains from April to May and from October to November. When traveling by land, the different thermal floors can be noticed more easily, because travelers can go from some meters over the sea level to 2.500 meters above the sea level in some minutes.

This is one of the reasons why it is very recommended to analyze the zones you will visit when traveling in Colombia, so will be able to recognize what types of clothes to wear. We suggest bringing all kinds of clothes, because in Colombia, we have a wide variety of climates, and you will have the chance to enjoy many different weather changes.

Of the 981 places that are part of the World Heritage, there are 7 places that are located in Colombia.

Port, fortresses and group of monuments, Cartagena:

It was the first Colombian place that was included into the list of World Heritage (1994) due to its influence and for being an example of Spanish military architecture of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, the largest in Latin America and one of the best maintained in the world. The monument that people know today is the result of the strategies that the city government has carried out.

Los Katios National Natural Park:

This park is considered to be one of the most important ones when it comes to fauna exchange between North, Central and South America. This is one of the reasons why it was included into the list of World Heritage in 1994. It is located in the North Western side of Colombia, borders with the Republic of Panama, and belongs to Riosucio (Choco) and Turbo (Antioquia). It is home to many species of plants and some endangered animals.

Santa Cruz de Mompox Historical Center:

The urban growth of Mompox, located in the department of Bolivar, was always limited by the Magdalena River (Not around of a main central park, as many other Spanish towns). After the flow of the Magdalena Rived changed in the 19th century, the communication and exchange from Mompox to other towns was very difficult. This isolation made it easy to maintain all the historical heritage of the place. This is one of the reasons why it was included into the list of World Heritage in 1995.

National Archeological Park of San Agustin:

National Archeological Park of San Agustin is located in the municipalities of Isnos and San Agustin, in the South Western side of Colombia and is part of the “Cinturon Andino” or “Andean Belt” in English. The major set of religious monuments and metal sculptures of South America is located in San Agustin.

National Archeological Park of Tierradentro:

National Archeological Park of Tierradentro was built to protect an extensive area where hypogea and pre-columbian statues have been found. The most important archeological sites of the park are Alto del Aguacate, Alto de San Andres and Alto del Duende. This National Archeological Park is located in the department of Cauca, in the municipalities of Belalcazar and Inza. This territory is located on the Central Mountain Range, which is the highest mountain ranges in which Andes is divided in the southern part of the country.

Malpelo Fauna and Flora sanctuary:

Malpelo is located 490 kilometers away from the coast of Buenaventura, in the Colombian Pacific Ocean. It was included into the World Heritage list in 2006 for being considered “The most important preserved reservation area for fishing in the Western Pacific Ocean” and is called the living lab. It is the ninth biggest sea protected area in the world and one of the fifth most beautiful places to practice diving.

Coffee Cultural Landscape:

It was included into the list of World Heritage back in 2011. The Colombian Coffee Cultural Landscape is an example of human adaptation, because its inhabitants got used to its difficult geographic conditions and were able to develop coffee plantations next to mountains. It is a cultural landscape that mixes some natural, economic and cultural elements in a great way. This region is well known for its particular architecture. This same honor of being considered as Cultural Landscapes in Latin America is only shared with other two places, Agave Landscape and Ancient Industrial Facilities of Tequila and the Archaeological Landscape of the First Coffee Plantations on the Southeast of Cuba.
